marketing strategy

Are you a creative person who loves connecting with others? Are you detail-oriented, organized, and always up for a challenge? If so, marketing may be a great career for you!

TV tells us that the world of marketing and advertising is glamorous and full of martinis. In reality, it’s less about liquid lunches and more about finding creative solutions that get products told! Marketing is defined by the American Marketing Association as “the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.” At its most basic level, marketing seeks to match a company’s products and services to customers who want access to those products.

So in terms of the profitability of a company, the folks in the marketing department have a big job to do! It is their job to decide the activities that a company will undertake to promote the buying or selling of a product or service. This includes advertising, selling, and delivering products to consumers or other businesses. People who work in a corporation’s marketing and promotion departments seek to get the attention of key potential audiences through advertising, targeting promotions to certain audiences to get attention. This may involve fun stuff like celebrity endorsements, catchy phrases or slogans, memorable packaging or graphic designs and overall media exposure.
