Willis Participates in International Peace Day 2012

Towards the ideals of peace…

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

This year, Friends of the UN (FOTUN) together with, Henan Province authorities and the private sector, met in Linzhou, China for the celebration of Peace Day through Art in support
of the UN’s call for a “Sustainable Peace for Sustainable Future” the theme chosen for this year’s observance of the International Day of Peace. There can be no sustainable future without a sustainable peace. Sustainable peace must be built on sustainable development.

The Friends of the UN invited Artists to celebrate peace through art, cultural dialogue and respect for one another. The language of art is universal, that is why the art works spoke for
themselves. Friends of the UN is grateful to all the artists, who responded to the call and came to Linzhou, China 2012 to celebrate this very special Day.
