This 44-week, full-time hybrid Dental Assisting (Distance) program combines the best of online learning, on-campus clinical training, and hands-on practicum placement for a truly immersive experience. You’ll benefit from a structured, instructor-paced curriculum designed to build your skills step-by-step. Two days each week are dedicated to real-world workplace skills development at a dental office, allowing you to apply what you’ve learned and gain valuable experience. Plus, all students complete a mandatory four-week intensive training at Willis College’s Dental Clinic in Ottawa, ensuring you’re well-prepared to launch your dental assisting career!
Your theory involves three five-hour days (virtual “from home”) and four weeks of live instruction on campus in Ottawa.
Your education will be delivered:
- All theory will be delivered virtually 5-hours a day
- 10-hours a week workplace experience in your community
- Mandatory on-campus labs in Ottawa

Admissions Requirements
Academic Admission Requirements:
Canadian High School diploma or equivalent. Willis College’s Admissions Team uses the Wonderlic assessment tool.
For Mature Students (19 years of age or older):
We offer alternative admissions options tailored to your province of residence if you do not hold a High School Diploma. Contact the Admissions Team to explore your eligibility and possible pathways to enrollment.
English Language Proficiency:
TOEFL or IELTS is required for international students to demonstrate English language proficiency.
Admission Interview:
An admission interview, conducted in person or by phone, is required.
Required Documentation:
Before acceptance into the Willis College Dental Assisting (Distance) program, students must submit all required documentation to the College:
- Official transcripts and educational documents, as required by the program.
- A signed acknowledgment confirming the student’s understanding that proof of a negative TB skin test within the past 4 months and a completed immunization report is due by week 4 of the program.
- A signed acknowledgment confirming the student’s understanding that some employers or placement partners may require a clear criminal background check before hiring or placement.
- A current Level “C” certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid, or paid proof of registration for this certification. It is the student’s responsibility to provide Willis College with this certification upon
completion.
