This marks the first Lion's Den event at our new location at 1200 St. Laurent Boulevard!

This is an exciting all-action project. And  Yes! - it is based on the popular TV show Dragon's Den ('Shark Tank').
Students will work on a business concept of their own, develop and create a Business Plan around it, then present to a panel of judges.
The Lions Den is part of our Executive Business Administration diploma program.
This project has proven invaluable to participants as it represents excellent preparation for embarking on a personal
business and career endeavor.
 Some students have gone further and executed their business idea and built a profitable enterprise. See testimonials below.

Lion's Den 2018 Judges Profile 
Integral to the Lion's Den Assignment is the quality of judges who turn out at the end to contribute and guide our students along the way. We enlist a panel of the best talent from Canada's capital region. Leading professionals with extensive relevant experience who appreciate the importance of feedback to the business plan process. Find below this year's Lions we are proud to have: 
Jarrod Goldsmith
Jarrod Goldsmith is a Canadian small business community builder and is the embodiment of the small business spirit. He is one of Ottawa’s best known entrepreneurs and founded Sax Appeal (Canada's Premier Saxophone Ensemble), eSAX (The Entrepreneur Social Advantage Experience); Ottawa’s largest entrepreneur networking community for students, startups and small business, and also hosts Ask the Fedora (a YouTube networking video series).
Diana Davies-Harju
Diana is a co-founding member and the CMO of Magnifi, a recently launched innovative iOS application that connects experts with knowledge seekers through paid, real-time audio and video consultation. She is a passionate advocate for customer service and takes on an agile, collaborative and data driven approach that inspires her lean startup methodology. 
Diana has a BA in law and marketing, has worked in high-tech, IP law, co-founded a neuromarketing course and is a long time entrepreneur. Diana is driven by her passion for mentorship and community building and is actively involved with not-for-profit initiatives. She is a mentor with Technovation and is on the board of trustees with Willis College for the Women in Technology Scholarship.
Ashley Mascarenhas
Ashley Currently owns and operates an environmental services company that provides consultations and support to third parties.
- This includes but not limited to development of assessment documents, Environmental Management Plans, and short-term/long-term environmental studies/projects
•Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans for the conservation and protection of natural resources
•Involved in Policy development related to environmental legislation, specifically the new Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and the development of new policies in DND as a result of the new legislation
•Practiced in negotiating with multiple stakeholders to meet their concerns related to activities within the construction of renewable energy resource development (Wind Energy)
Emile Salem
At a very young age Emile had the entrepreneurial spirit. He started his first business at the very young age of 4 as a subcontractor to his brother’s paper route, being was paid 10 cents & a bag of chips every Friday.

Over the next 40 years Emile turned revenue streams and profit development into an art form across a variety of industries. Starting and investing in 44 businesses. He developed a cross section of successful business platforms and sales strategies for numerous business leaders. It is always exciting to work with small business owners and their executive teams. Emile understand's that we all want to leave a sustainable business legacy. This philosophy has enabled his newest big venture - Collabspace.

Emile is a Co-Founder of Collab Space and a Business Mentor. Collab Space engenders the philosophy that we are all stronger together and with Emile at the helm, that philosophy can be felt by all who enter our space. Head on over and have a chat with him about what our community can do for you.

Meet The Founder
Darlene Crawford is a member of faculty in our Smith Smalls Campus and is the Founder of the Lion's Den Program. Back in 2014 she took on the design of the project, focusing on the benefits to college students and industry in general.
Darlene love when her students ideas becomes a real LIVE functioning business.
