Courage to Soar Instructor

General description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide quality delivery of assigned courses within the Indigenous Courage to Soar program, utilizing a variety of instruction strategies, techniques, and delivery methods to meet the individual learning needs of the students, in a safe and civil learning environment. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, taking daily attendance, grading class tests, assignments, and exams, and providing students meaningful feedback that allows them to expand their learning. The selected candidate will also be expected to deliver Courage to Soar classes within the context of Indigenous education programs, Courage to Soar program focuses on training Indigenous women to be job ready for an office environment.

Key responsibilities

The instructor will be responsible to deliver modules in the Courage to Soar Program as follows:

Courage to Soar:

· Essential Skills

· MS Applications: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook

· Career Preparation

· Office Communications and Procedures

· Online Software and Security

· Self Care and Teambuilding

· Business Writing

· Basic accounting

Qualifications:

· Experience with Trauma Informed Teaching

· Background in social work, counselling, or social service

· Ability to foster resilience

Experience working with vulnerable populations and Indigenous populations
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and practices
Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications, office practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong presentation and group facilitation skills

· Support the learner in cultivation of confidence and critical thinking skills, goal setting and developing boundaries

Ability to motivate, engage and inspire students

· Provide support with resume building and interview skills

· Provide guidance with financial literacy

· Support the learner in cultivation of confidence and critical thinking skills, goal setting and developing boundaries

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

Salary/hourly rate is based on an individual base of professional and adult teaching experience, and education and certifications
Salary range is $30-$33/hour
Teaching hours:9am-1pm M-F with a total of 25 hours per week including office hours
Monday to Thursday will be teaching online and Fridays will be at the campus

Start Date:

The scheduled start for this opportunity August 29th 2022.
